A Bavarian Gem with Renewed Purpose

Here's one of my favorite places to visit in Germany and why;

While trekking across Germany I visited the Eagle's Nest, Kehlsteinhous, in Berchtesgaden, a village nestled at the base of the Bavarian Alps of Southeastern Germany. In my humble opinion, this is the most beautiful region in all of Germany. 

If you'd like to experience a bird's eye, top-of-the-world, panoramic view of Germany and Austria while standing in one spot, this is a must see when visiting Germany. Besides the majestic and breathtaking views, the reason why I was so inspired by this travel destination is that what was once Hitler's mountain vacation spot, is now a quaint and thriving restaurant for both travelers and locals alike. A place that once served one of the darkest characters in history, now has blossomed into a gem for all people to share in its beauty. It reminded me of the Edelweiss flowers which grow and flourish in between the rocks in the Alps just a short hike beyond the Eagle's Nest.

Though it's a bit difficult to get to, it's well worth the effort. You can choose to put on your hiking shoes and take a challenging hike that will take a few hours depending on your physical condition or take a bus to the tunnel above. There you will take an elevator inside the mountain which will take you to the top.

Whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed when you get there. Just outside the restaurant is a short path that leads to an overlook where in any direction you look is worthy of a magazine cover. A photographer's paradise! From there enjoy a picturesque hike further into the Alps. Wunderbar!!
